Sensitivity analysis and control of noise sources in turbulent flows
A reduction of the noise produced by turbulent flows is necessary in many industrial applications. The objective of this thesis is to study the sensitivity of the acoustic sources present in these flows in order to develop control strategies. For this purpose, a method allowing to study the effects of physical or numerical parameters on the noise produced by a flow, the complex differentiation method, has been successfully applied to investigate the acoustic radiation of a two-dimensional mixing layer. In parallel, simulations of subsonic jets impinging on a solid plate are carried out to characterize the effects of nozzle-exit conditions on the aerodynamic and acoustic fields.
