Acoustic imaging of aircraft engines using flight test measurements
Abstract : This PhD aims at tackling various issues regarding the reconstruction of acoustic sources of noise emitted by an aircraft using in-flight data. The approach is to develop a general methodology avoiding restrictive assumptions about the nature of the sources, and about the propagation effects in the flow. The ultimate goal aims at reconstructing the acoustic landscape, based on localized and quantified directive sources, in order to perform meaningful extrapolation of the radiated acoustic field. Such information can be used to quantify the far-field noise in order to better control the noise emissions caused by the air traffic, but also annoyance levels in the cabin to improve passenger comfort.
