Accessibility of buildings and hearing impairment: reverberation and intelligibility of messages for the hearing impaired
Our ability to understand speech in noise is greatly impaired by reverberation - the totality of sound reflections in a room. In addition, people with hearing impairments would be more affected by the adverse effect of reverberation on speech understanding. The aim of this thesis is to understand why people with hearing impairments particularly complain about reverberation, especially in the presence of noise.
