LAB COM

IMAGE4US

LabCom IMAGE4US between the Creatis laboratory and the company DB-SAS (Sept 2020-Feb 2025).

The Creatis laboratory, Research Centre in Image Acquisition and Processing for Health, and the DB-SAS company have decided to join forces to work on a 3D ultrasound medical imaging system, also known as a research ultrasound scanner. The objective of this joint laboratory is to propose an open, flexible and transportable system, aimed at all researchers so that they can test and validate the methods they develop in research laboratories and hospitals. This system meets a strong demand in the field of 3D ultrasound medical imaging research

LADAGE : Gear Dynamics Laboratory

The LabCom LADAGE is a Public-Private Joint Laboratory between LTDS and VIBRATEC, funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) in 2014. It is dedicated to analysis of gear dynamics and aims to improve the performance of mechanical transmissions by minimizing their vibroacoustic nuisances. It meets the societal expectations concerning noise pollution of vehicles and machines.

Today, ever stricter regulations on noise pollution combined with the search for greater acoustic comfort for users, is driving new demand from companies in many sectors: land transport, aeronautics, energy, industry. For example, when people try a new vehicle, they are very sensitive to the noise generated by the actuation of the window lift, the mirror, the seat and the sunroof gear-motors. Thus, making this equipment quieter becomes a real issue for car manufacturers.

Thanks to the synergies created and initiated for several years between LTDS and VIBRATEC, the LabCom LADAGE is able to accompany manufacturers to perfect their products and make them quieter. The LabCom LADAGE is composed of a five-member scientific committee and a fifteen people team which collaborate to contribute to the dynamism of university research and business of companies in the Lyon area.

ATYSCrea: Ultrasound medical instrumentation for high frequency imaging and transcranial Doppler

Funded in 2014 by the ANR, this joint laboratory entitled AtysCrea focuses on medical ultrasound instrumentation for transcranial Doppler and high frequency ultrasound imaging. It brings together the company Atys Médical and the CREATIS research unit. The two partners know each other, are complementary and have already worked together. The detection of cerebral microembolism is a public health issue to prevent stroke (110,000 hospitalizations in France in 2010).
Atys is heavily involved in R&D. On a staff of 10 persons, six are in R&D. This activity produces new equipment (2012: first Transcranial Holter). Very present on the international market, Atys makes more than 80 % of its sales abroad through sole agents and 20 % in France with its own sales network.

P3A : « Platform for AeroAcoustic Antenna »

Carried by the acoustic Centre of Lyon (CeLyA, Laboratory of Excellence), the common laboratory P3A recently labelled by the ANR (French Research Agency), has been built at the skill crossroads of three internationally renowned Lyon's entities:
-The Acoustics Centre of the Fluid Mechanics and Acoustics Laboratory (LMFA) of Centrale Lyon, which develops its expertise and research capabilities in the field of characterization, modeling and simulation of aeroacoustic phenomena.
-The Laboratoire Vibrations Acoustique (LVA) of INSA Lyon, which counts among its main research thematic: identification of sources by microphones array techniques, and develops specific algorithms for separation and identification of sources.
-MicrodB, a SME specialized in designing and marketing tools for acoustic imaging based on multi-sensor processing.
By bringing together academics and private partners on a developing research topic, for which a strong industrial demand exists, the common laboratory P3A is an ideal tool to facilitate the transfer of scientifical and technical progress made in public research to industry.

Through this sharing of scientific, technical and logistics means (measuring, testing, simulations), P3A aims to:
-strengthen the current position of the partners in their respective fields and instill the necessary dynamic to the ambition to dispute the scientific and technical leadership in the international competition on aeroacoustic sources identification using microphone array techniques.
-test the algorithms and methodologies developed by laboratories, in an industrial application context and industrialize new acoustic imaging tools
-become a coherent and unique interface to respond in a coordinate and effective way to industrial to requests, and also to calls for collaborative research projects (ANR, EU, ...)
