OPEN FAN - SAFRAN AND ONERA

Two researchers from the Laboratoire de Mécanique des Fluides et Acoustique / Ecole Centrale Lyon, are taking part in the wind tunnel testing of the future Safran and ONERA - The French Aerospace Lab - Open Fan.

The Open Fan is an innovative aircraft engine developed by Safran that aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 20%. Its architecture breaks with current models and promises to "shatter the aerodynamic paradigm". A 1/5th-scale demonstrator of this engine of the future is currently undergoing wind tunnel testing. This is where Emmanuel JONDEAU and Pascal SOUCHOTTE, CNRS engineers at Centrale Lyon and the Fluid Mechanics and Acoustics Laboratory, come in.
